The National Assembly for Wales present a free performance by Cardiff guitarist Dewi Griffiths, who won the solo strings contest at the Eisteddfod 2012. The performance will take place in the Senedd in Cardiff Bay on Saturday 11 August, between 11am – 2pm.
Dewi Griffiths independently produced his debut album ‘Why Dewi Quit the Call Centre’ in September 2010. The album was described by Acoustic Magazine UK as “having passion and strong technical skill”. Since then, he has played venues across South Wales and the UK, even having played in the United States.
During his short career, Dewi has made appearances on S4C and numerous radio stations and performed in locations as diverse as Cardiff Airport (through BMI Baby’s Enterplanement competition).
Dewi utilises tapping, percussion and harmonic slapping techniques drawn from such influences as Andy Mckee and John Butler, whilst incorporating his passion for Spanish and classical music. He guarantees to impress with a fresh, original performance. Please come along to the Senedd for this free performance to see Dewi in action.
